Scientific illustrator and graphic designer for Hawaii Marine Science Studies (HMSS) of the
Curriculum Research Development Group of the University of Hawaii.

Duties at HMSS other than illustration included supervising
production and scheduling of high school textbook, workbook, and
teacher guide. Provided supplementary visuals such as overheads,
brochures, and other public relation materials. Created, edited, and
manipulated scientific and technical computer images and illustrations.
Developed and designed layouts using desktop publishing techniques
as well as traditional methods. Assigned projects, taught computer
skills to others in the department. Evaluated and recommended
software and hardware upgrades, performed minor repairs and
hardware replacement for project computers. Generally maintained
computers and server, made backups, ensured conformity and
software compatibility with project. Set up disk filing system to keep
track of floppy disk usage, managed files on server, kept several
databases current. Devised a database to track production stages of
illustrations and other work. Procured bids for paper and printing
jobs, worked with printers, photographers and other publishing and
computer specialists.
